At PowerUs, a fast-scaling company with a mission to revolutionize skilled trades recruitment, open and honest feedback is essential for driving collaboration and performance. As the company grew, leadership noticed a challenge: while the team valued transparency, many struggled to deliver feedback in a way that was both clear and caring. That’s where Radical Candor came in.

“We’d introduced the concept of Radical Candor to the team, but I wasn’t sure we all shared the same understanding of what it looks like to live it,” recalls Stephanie Thomas, Head of People at PowerUs. “We wanted to use part of our annual team onsite to get everyone on the same page so that we could really bring Radical Candor to life!”

"The team really enjoyed the sessions. I was surprised by how engaged folks were in the conversations and how openly we were able to talk about what it means to really live Radical Candor at PowerUs."

Rachel designed and facilitated a custom Radical Candor workshop tailored to PowerUs’ culture and team dynamics. The goal of the workshop was to ensure everyone on the team understood what Radical Candor was - and wasn’t - and to surface what the team needed to start leaning into it more fully at work. Aside from practical definitions, Rachel wove in short films featuring Radical Candor coaches to give team members a better understanding of what the concepts looked like in action. She also created a small group conversation activity to get the team talking about their own experiences, ensuring psychological safety for a large group share-back. After the session, Rachel provided a post-workshop analysis with insights on team dynamics, key takeaways, and recommendations for sustaining the practice.

"The team really enjoyed the sessions. I was surprised by how engaged folks were in the conversations and how openly we were able to talk about what it means to really live Radical Candor at PowerUs,” recalls Linn Bauer, People Operations Lead at PowerUs. “The workshop was a great addition to our team onsite!”
